Look For The Gold Seal Of Approval
In order to become a JCAHO accredited; our Christian Addiction Residential Center had to go through strict evaluations and guidelines by an expertly trained commission surveyor against their set of national standards.
In the end we were awarded the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval due to our ability to easily adhere to all policies and procedures required.
What Is JCAHO & How Does It Work?
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s healthcare providers through voluntary accreditation. JCAHO evaluates the quality and safety of care for more than 17,000 health care organizations.
To maintain and earn accreditation, organizations must have an extensive on-site review by a team of JCAHO health care professionals, at least once every three years. The purpose of the review is to evaluate the organization’s performance in areas that affect your care and to ensure continual adherence to all the guidelines. The Joint Commission is governed by a 29-member Board of Commissioners that includes physicians, administrators, nurses, employers, a labor representative, health plan leaders, quality experts, ethicists, a consumer advocate and educators. JCAHO standards address the organization’s level of performance in key functional areas, such as patient rights, patient treatment, medication, safety and infection control. The standards focus on setting expectations for an organization’s actual performance and for assessing its ability to provide safe as well as high quality care. Consumers have the right to contact the Joint Commission’s Office of Quality Monitoring to report any concerns or register complaints about a Joint Commission-accredited health care organization, or about those facilities seeking accreditation, by either calling 1-800-994-6610 or email complaint@jointcommission.org
